19th c. – Aesthetic Era – Pairpoint Silver Plate Bridal Basket w/ Turtle Doves & Cherries
This Antique, Aesthetic Era, Pairpoint Silver Plate handled Brides Basket with Turtle Dove Handles, in this condition, is a real find!
Each end of the basket has a wonderful floral design with a pair of Turtle Doves as the primary element in each.
The handle (which only maintains its angle when straight up – some thread wound in the joint can improve this) stands about 8” tall with the bowl of the basket standing 3” off the table surface on four very decorative feet. It is 14″ wide at the turtle doves and 10″ at the handle connections.
It is marked Pairpoint Quadruple Plate. Pairpoint Manufacturing Company opened in 1880 to produce silver-plated items in Bedford, Massachusetts. The company merged with Mount Washington Glass in 1894 and added glass works to its operations. Although better known for its glass, Pairpoint made silver wares in the late 1800’s and very early 1900’s.
This is in excellent used condition, sits squarely on the table with no rocking and has no dents visible to me..
