A Rare Pair! – Antique 1894 Pickard Gold Encrusted Compotes – Rose & Daisy Pattern – Hand Marked
$125.00
Add some GOLD to your life!
It is hard to find matching pairs like this lovely and diminutive pair of Pickard gold encrusted compotes. A “Rare Pair” indeed!
They measure 2.5″ high by 6.5″ across, with gently sloping wells and flared pedestals.
They are embossed with Pickard’s etched daisy-and-rose pattern and both are marked on the base with a hand painted 1894 over L (?).11.
(As 1894 was the first year of production for the company, I am surmising that the compotes may have also originally had one of the early Pickard paper labels, long since gone.)
We will only sell as a pair. They are too special to separate.
We have several other Gold Encrusted pieces available!

The perfect 50th Anniversary Gift! GOLD – The tradition may have originated in medieval Germany where, if a married couple lived to celebrate the 25th anniversary of their wedding, the wife was presented by her friends and neighbours with a silver wreath to congratulate them for the good fortune that had prolonged the lives of the couple for so many years. On celebration of the 50th, the wife received a wreath of gold.
