This Rosenthal China, Classic Rose Collection, Large John James Audubon Birds of America Goldfinch Pillow Vase is in Excellent Condition This is a rare opportunity to own a spectacular statement piece.
It appears that the entire run for the Audubon collection, with various different Audubon images, numbered 3584. This Gold Finch vase is #32 (oval). Recently #44, Baltimore Oriole, sold at auction in Harrisburg, PA for $525.
The front and the back are the same. Each end is different.
It is marked on the bottom as shown and measures 13″ Tall, 11.5″ wide, and 6″ deep. Plenty of heft as it weighs 5 pounds 14 ounces.
John James Audubon (born Jean Rabin; April 26, 1785 – January 27, 1851) was an American ornithologist, naturalist, and painter. He was notable for his extensive studies documenting all types of American birds and for his detailed illustrations that depicted the birds in their natural habitats. His major work, a color-plate book entitled The Birds of America (1827–1839), is considered one of the finest ornithological works ever completed. Audubon identified 25 new species.
