Hand Carved Santa Riding A Rainbow Trout – American Folk Art – The McAlister Collection
This Hand Carved Santa Riding a Rainbow Trout is flexible as Santa can be removed and be a seasonal feature if you do not want to display him all year.
This piece of American Folk Art measures 12″ long and 11″ high to the top of Santa.
We are excited to be able to offer our customers a few select pieces from The McAlister Collection. A line of wood carvings hand carved by Barbara McAlister and her Family.
Folk Art in its truest sense! Each McAlister Collection carving is signed.
A unique heirloom quality, wood sculpture for you and your family to enjoy for generations.
For the McAlister family, wood carving is a four going on five generation tradition.
They begin with an idea drawn on paper by a family member (sometimes even the youngest!). The design is then sawn out of native white pine with a band saw. Each piece is then carved with a draw knife, carving knife, and/or chisel. The same way Grandfather McAlister did years ago. The carvings are painted with acrylic artist’s paints which insures a good, permanent, durable color. Ears, tails, feet, etc. are added last. Most being made of leather, wood, or wire.
These McAlister Collection pieces are the fine quality American Folk Art that Abby Aldrich Rockefeller would appreciate, if she were alive today!
This is an individual piece. Once sold, it will be replaced with another, totally different McAlister Collection Folk Art carving.
