A Museum Quality American Wrought Iron “Double Candle” adjustable Floor Standing Candle Holder. American, late 18th or very early 19th Century.
This fine piece of Early Lighting has an adjustable cross arm with boxed friction springs, facilitating adjustment, features a pair of rolled edge iron sockets above the 5.25″ diameter drip pans and rises up on arched tripod legs resting on large penny feet.
It stands 51.75″ tall and the candle arm is 16″ across.
Similar examples are found in Wallace Nutting’s “Furniture Treasury”, “The Rushlight” by the Rushlight Association, The Henry Ford Museum and Old Sturbridge Village.
