RARE 18th-19th c. – Tin Hanging Three Candle Chandelier In Old Paint – Great Early Form – Embossed Decoration

$625.00

An exceptional opportunity to add a RARE and very hard to find 18th-19th c. Tin Hanging Three Candle Chandelier to your collection.

This early sand weighted Tin Chandelier is a great early form with embossed decoration.  There is some discussion as to whether this ca. 1790-1830 piece is American of French.  If French, it would have been very desirable during the early 1800s when France allied with us against the British during the War of 1812.

A great form with three sweeping arms ending in rolled candle holders and crimped drip pans. The central dual cone body has a distinguished embossed decoration. The surface is an old late 19th c. paint over an earlier paint.

Tin chandeliers from this early period are extremely rare. There is a similar example exhibited in the Museum at Old Sturbridge Village that has a similar paint history.

This retains its original sand weighted design, great seamed and soldered construction and original link ring hanging chain w/ original hook.

A very desirable and rare small size. Approximately 16″ tall and 12″ in diameter w/ hook and chain being 8.25″.

The last one I saw, sold April 7, 2013 for $815.

Take this opportunity to make a very affordable addition to your lighting collection.

We offer a fine selection of  Vermont Hand-Dipped Candles AND Hand-Rolled Honeycomb Beeswax Candles that would go nicely with this period piece.
