This magnificent large and beautifully decorated Chinese charger or shallow bowl measures 17″ across, is 2″ deep, has a low coupe profile and weighs in at 7 pounds. It is stamped in red on the back as shown.
The center features figures in a courtyard scene. The black outlines appear to be slightly raised or embossed and then the colors have been applied by hand.
The wide border has beautiful pink chrysanthemums and roses, butterflies, beehives and a variety of smaller flowers.
This charger has a slightly rounded back within the foot ring and is therefore designed to either rest on a small stand to keep it level or to be displayed upright on a plate stand.
