Any serious collector of early or kerosene lighting will jump at the opportunity to add this extremely hard to find, ca. 1880, Kerosene Oil Lamp with Square Tin Font and patented Center Draft Burner by the Plume & Atwood Manufacturing Co. of Waterbury Conn. to their collection!
Found in the attic of an area Estate, this Plume & Atwood Kerosene Oil Lamp has the square shaped tin font which is intact with no dings, dents or holes. This kerosene oil lamp does have the original Plume & Atwood Center Draft burner in working condition. The flame spreader at the top of the burner is marked – Plume & Atwood MFG Co. – Waterbury, Conn. The wick adjustment knob is marked – Made In USA. This oil lamp has the original clear glass chimney intact with no chips or cracks. The glass chimney does have some age appropriate waviness visible in the glass. This kerosene oil lamp has a cast iron frame with adjustable painted reflective tin shade. The shade is designed to be adjusted up and down and can be tilted to reflect the light from the lamp. The tin shade is painted and does have some discoloration visible from age and heat exposure from burning lamp.
It measures 16″ tall to the top of the clear glass chimney. The square tin font measures 6″ by 5″ at the base and it measures 8.5″ tall to the top of the flame spreader.
